Lyrics
Life used to exist a gay thing,
A "filled-with-happiness-dark-and-twenty-four hours" thing.
It was something to accept and to hold,
Only it seems that your honey grew cold.
I never knew that our romance had ended
Until you lot poisoned my food
And I thought it was a lark
When you lot kicked me in the park,
But now I think it was rude.
I never knew that you and I were finished
Until that bottle hit my head.
Though I tried to be aloof
When you pushed me off the roof,
I feel our romance is expressionless.
Information technology wouldn't have been so bad if you'd told me,
If you'd told me that someone had all of a sudden taken my place — Huh! —
But, no, you didn't fifty-fifty scold me:
You just tried to disfigure my face.
You'll never know how this heart of mine is breaking;
It looks so hopeless, but then
Our life could still be sweet and placid
If you'd just put down that acrid
And say we're sweethearts again!
[spoken] Remember that night in Bridgeport,
When the moon shone down on both of us
And the breeze sang a love song,
And yous looked at me, and I looked at you,
And you lot didn't know what to practice —
Then you broke my leg?
I thought at that place was sort of a foreign look in your eyes,
But then you smiled, and it made everything all right.
And then there was that lovely time we went to New England
And yous set burn to my clothes.
You said you lot pushed me overboard to put out the flame,
But I could never quite understand why you held my caput nether water so long.
Of form, I've never met this person who's taken my identify,
Merely I want you to know that I wish you all the luck in the world,
And if in that location'due south annihilation I can do — anything at all —
You can accomplish me in room Number 304
At the Full general Hospital.
Farewell, my sweet.
Yous'll never know how this heart of mine is breaking;
It looks so hopeless, but then,
Our love is great — no love tin friction match it —
Darling, delight put down that hatchet,
And say nosotros're sweethearts again!
AAAAH!
Life used to be a gay thing,
A "filled-with-happiness-night-and-day" thing.
It was something to have and to hold,
But it seems that your honey grew cold.
I never knew that our romance had concluded
Until you poisoned my nutrient
And I thought it was a distraction
When y'all kicked me in the park,
But now I think information technology was rude.
I never knew that our romance had finished
Until that canteen hit my head.
Though I tried to exist aloof
When you pushed me off the roof,
I feel our romance is dead.
Information technology wouldn't have been so bad if you lot'd told me
That someone had taken my place,
Simply, no, you didn't even scold me:
You just tried to disfigure my face.
You'll never know how my poor middle is breaking;
It looks then helpless, but then
Life used to be and then placid —
Won't you delight put back that acid
And say that we're sweethearts over again?
[spoken] Oh, how well I remember
That night in Bridgeport.
That was the night you lot gave me the hotfoot.
I thought that in that location was sort of a strange expect in your eyes,
But and then yous smiled, and, well, it made everything all correct.
Then at that place was the fourth dimension we went canoeing
And you ready burn to my clothes.
You said yous pushed me overboard to put out the flame,
But I never quite understood why you held me nether water and then long.
Now, I've never met this girl who's taking my place,
But I wish you lot all the happiness in the earth,
And if at that place's annihilation I tin can do,
You know you can e'er reach me in room Number 304
In the Full general Hospital.
Farewell, my sweet.
You'll never know how my poor eye is breaking
It looks so helpless, but then
My love can go just then far —
Won't you please put downwardly that crow bar
And say that nosotros're sweethearts again?
